Elevate Your Aerial Teaching
Move Beyond the Basics with this 4 Day In-Person
Teacher Training
You’ve completed your initial aerial teacher training.
You’ve read the anatomy books.
You’re working with real students, in real classes, with real bodies
And now you’re realizing something important:
There’s so much more to teaching aerial than knowing the tricks and memorizing anatomy.
At some point, almost every instructor hits the same wall and thinks:
- “I don’t know how to help this student.”
- “I can see that something isn’t working, but I can’t identify what it is.”
- “I don’t know what else to say about this skill."
If that sounds familiar, you’re not failing—and you’re not alone.
This is the gap between knowing information and being able to apply it in the moment, to the body in front of you. And that gap can feel incredibly frustrating and disempowering as a teacher.
Knowing a list of muscles, tricks, and "scap wrap" isn’t enough when you’re working with the nuance, variability, and complexity of real human movement.
The Solution:
Elevate Aerial Teacher Training
Elevate Aerial Teacher Training is an in-person training led by Emily Scherb and Lauren Kehl, designed specifically for aerial instructors who want to deepen their understanding of human movement and dramatically improve how they teach.
This training bridges the gap between theory and practice.
Instead of memorizing muscles, bones, origins, and insertions, you’ll learn how to see anatomy and movement patterns on the bodies in front of you—and how to respond effectively as a coach.
Because there is no one-size-fits-all approach to aerial.
Mastery comes from understanding the underlying theory and knowing how to apply it with nuance, clarity, and adaptability.
What You’ll Learn
Elevate is designed to give you tools you can use immediately in your teaching—not just information to remember.
See What’s Actually Happening in Front of You
Learn how anatomy shows up in real movement so you can stop guessing and start understanding why a student is struggling—while they’re moving, not after the fact.
Spot Problems Before They Become Injuries
Learn to recognize common compensation patterns and movement issues so you can address them early, keep students safer, and make skills more accessible.
Give Cues That Actually Work
Replace vague instructions like “engage” or “squeeze” with clear, specific cues that create immediate changes in how students move.
Reach More Students, More Easily
Learn multiple ways to explain the same idea so you’re never stuck repeating a cue that isn’t landing—and can adapt on the fly to different bodies and learning styles.
Know What You’re Looking For
Train your eye to see what matters when a body moves, so you can quickly identify what to work on and how to help—right in the moment.
Why In-Person Matters
There are many excellent online resources for aerial education—but nothing replaces in-person learning.
Elevate Aerial Teacher Training is intentionally immersive and hands-on. You won’t just listen—you’ll observe, practice, ask questions, and work directly with bodies in real time.
You’ll also be learning alongside a group of instructors who are just as invested in their teaching as you are. The opportunity to think together, problem-solve together, and build professional community is invaluable—and something online education simply can’t replicate.
Learn From Leaders in Aerial Education
Dr. Emily Scherb, PT
AKA The Circus Doc
began her training as a circus artist in 1992. She continued training, performing, and teaching as she made her way through school, always making sure she wasn’t too far from her trapeze. In breaks between high school and college, she joined aerial dance companies, and between college and graduate school Emily taught flying trapeze and other aerial arts while helping to manage TSNY NY.
When she graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Dr. Scherb knew she wanted to work with circus artists to serve the community that has been so important to her.
Through her years of working with circus artists Emily has gained deep insight into how circus bodies work in the air and on the ground. As she has expanded her knowledge, she has worked to share those gains with the community through workshops, teaching, and recently writing the first book to address the unique challenges to the aerialist’s body, Applied Anatomy of Aerial Arts and her education company The Circus Doc.

As a curriculum developer and co-leader of the teacher training program at Versatile Arts, Lauren specializes in mentoring other coaches, helping them build a strong foundation in biomechanics, progressions, and student-centered teaching strategies. She has developed Movement First Aerial, her own methodology that focuses on understanding foundational movement patterns to create strength, efficiency, and artistry in the air.

What do people have to say about working with Lauren and Emily?
"This work with Emily has educated me beyond my prior knowledge and experience. It's assisting me in training future aerial instructors, as well as up-skilling my current instructors. And it's allowing me to understand the mechanics of my own body better, as I believe there is always room for improvement, no matter your level of expertise and experience." - Rony E
"Lauren's kind and empathetic teaching style combined with her dedication to meeting her students where they are in their unique bodies helped me to find success in aerial skills I'd given up on years ago as impossible." - Dori M
"Whether you're an aerial performer, instructor or student, I highly recommend the work of The Circus Doc” - Stella M
“Lauren has a remarkable ability to weave together knowledge from multiple disciplines into a cohesive teaching methodology that is grounded in good biomechanics, so that the end result is movement that feels good, and is efficient and powerful. Lauren not only teaches you how to move, but also how to see movement, how to think about it systematically, and how to communicate about it effectively. On top of all that, Lauren is genuinely an awesome human being!” - Cyndi G
